Biochemical Genetics Laboratory Director Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Department of Human Genetics Emory University Atlanta, Georgia The rapidly growing Department of Human Genetics at Emory University is seeking a Director or co-Director for its Biochemical Genetics Laboratory with a strong interest in new technology development and applied research. For each of our three genetics diagnostic laboratories (cytogenetics, molecular and biochemical genetics) multiple co-directors are expected to contribute a part-time effort to clinical laboratory activities, and a significant effort to research – from basic science to translational or applied research programs.

The Department of Human Genetics is both a basic science and a clinical department with 37 full-time faculty members, including 14 who are ABMG-certified. The Department has an exceptionally strong and vibrant research program in human genetics with many faculty directly involved in translational and/or clinical research. See www.genetics.emory.edu.

We direct a large and diverse clinical genetics program in partnership with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s), ranked as the #3 Children’s Hospital in the US by Child Magazine. In addition to our general genetics clinics, we provide a number of large specialty clinics such as fragile X syndrome, Down syndrome, 22q11 deletion syndrome, craniofacial, Lysosomal Storage Diseases and metabolic nutrition. Our faculty actively participates in a variety of educational activities including a Medical Genetics residency/fellowship program, as well as in training of graduate students, medical students and residents.

Qualifications:
The qualified candidate must hold a Ph.D. or M.D. degree (or equivalent) and be ABMG board-certified/eligible in Biochemical Genetics. The recruitment can be at any academic rank dependent upon qualifications of the candidate.
