Certification Examination
Applications are now available and may be
submitted at any time. The Application
deadline is November 28, 2008. Eligible
applicants must complete their training
program by July 31st, 2009. The examination
will be offered in August 2009, the exact
date has not yet been determined. |

What's New at the ABMG?
-
Program directors be advised, all residents and/or
fellows entering a residency and/or fellowship training
program beginning July 1, 2008 or later, must apply for
certification within five years of completing a genetics
residency and/or fellowship training program.

Part III registration is now open for diplomates
participating in EMOC who were initially certified in
1993, 1996 or 1999. Part III comprehensive examinations
will be offered during the week of December 1-5, 2008 at
Prometric testing centers. You can register through the
portal. Deadline for receipt of applications: July 1,
2008

ABMG will offer the first subspecialty certification
examination in Medical Biochemical Genetics in 2009.

The purposes of the ABMG shall be: (a) to
elevate the standards and advance the art and science of
medical genetics by encouraging its study and improving its
practice; (b) to conduct examinations to determine the
qualifications of medical geneticists who voluntarily apply
to the ABMG for certification as Diplomates; (c) to grant
and issue Diplomate certificates in the field of medical
genetics and its various specialty areas to those medical
geneticists who have received adequate preparation in
accordance with the ABMG's educational, training, and
experience requirements, and who have passed the
comprehensive Certification Examinations administered by the
ABMG; (d) to maintain a registry of holders of such
certificates; (e) to evaluate and accredit qualified
training programs in the field of medical genetics; and (f)
thereby, to improve the public health.
